As part of the lecture “Practical lecture on digital development of light commercial vehicles”, students have the opportunity to get to know the latest development methods in the vehicle industry and to apply them to a task. The lecture takes place in cooperation with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which gives students the opportunity to hear the latest content from the industry in the lectures and to engage in a direct exchange with colleagues from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles about the project task. The lecture takes place on four Fridays, all day, with lectures, practical exercises and consultation opportunities on the project task being offered on site. The project task is completed asynchronously by the students. The lecture is concluded with a portfolio examination in which the content developed by the students is assessed.
As part of the lecture, the latest development methods in vehicle technology are taught using an application example. The application example is worked on by the students as part of a project assignment, whereby the students are supported in their work by lectures from employees of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and the Institute of Design Engineering, by exercises on the tools to be used and by consultation opportunities.
The application example includes the development of a subsystem of a light commercial vehicle, whereby a system model must be created based on requirements, which must then be implemented as a CAD model. Finally, the created model is validated using virtual reality based on certain criteria.
No specific prior knowledge is required to complete this course; students can learn all the required content as part of the lecture. Further details on the course content can be found in the module handbook.
More information for the procedure can be found on the StudIP event website.
The teaching event takes place in the summer semester.
