From 1972 to 2014, the main location of the IK was located in “Langer Kamp” on Campus East. Due to its proximity to the main campus and the city center, a large part of the teaching support, such as the Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, takes place here. The Vehicle Concepts and Additive Manufacturing Technologies working groups are located here.
As a member of the Lower Saxony Research Center for Automotive Engineering (NFF), the IK maintains office and laboratory areas in the new NFF building on the Campus Research Airport (CFF) (map). In order to support cross-departmental research projects in vehicle technology, the working group vehicle concepts( Fahrzeugkonzepte) is assigned to this location.
The OpenHybrid LabFactory (OHLF), a public-private partnership-driven research factory for the development of large-scale production and production technologies for the economically and ecologically sustainable production of hybrid light-weight components (metals, plastics and textile structures), is being set up at the Mobile Life Campus (MLC) in Wolfsburg (map). Accordingly, the Working Group on Lightweight Construction and Hybrid Construction (Leichtbau und hybride Bauweisen) is based here.
