The Pile Symposium is considered one of the most important conferences on pile foundations and pile bearing capacities. At regular intervals, academia, construction companies, planners, and authorities can exchange information on current developments in deep foundations, offshore foundations, and port and quay construction. As part of the event, the Frankignoul Award is awarded.
This conference has been held in the years 1985, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2023.
Since 1994, the Institute of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering has been organizing the Symposium on measurements in Geotechnical Engineering. This platform addresses current advancements in geomechanical instrumentation and showcases noteworthy projects and research endeavors. The topics cover almost all areas of geotechnics, such as underground construction, harbor and quay construction or offshore foundations.
To date, this conference has been held in the years 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2024.
Inspired by professional contacts, an event supported initially by ThyssenKrupp and now by terra infrastructure is offered every two years, focusing on topics and current projects in the field of North German hydraulic steel engineering.
So far, this conference has taken place in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2023.
The series of Landfill and Barrier Wall Seminars addressed current issues within the respective fields. Legal developments as well as the state of technology and research were discussed, fostering extensive exchange of experiences over two days among often more than 200 attendees.
This conference took place in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004.
This seminar continued the current developments in the field of landfill construction and sealing wall technology and, with the addition of a third topic group on geothermal energy, took account of the creation of the new joint Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geoecology at the TU Braunschweig.
This conference took place in 2006.
