Junior professor Matthias Bücker takes up W2 professorship in Kiel

On 1 October 2024, our junior professor Matthias Bücker will leave the institute to take up a W2 professorship for Applied Geophysics at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel. Since January 2022, he has built up the Urban Geophysics working group here with great success. In addition to his research work on the electrical conductivity of soils and rocks, he has attracted particular attention with numerous geophysical measurements in the Braunschweig region. He was also very active in the public sphere and in teaching; among other things, he set up the extremely popular Comsol course together with Christopher Virgil.

Matthias has now been appointed to the highly prestigious Chair of Applied Geophysics at Kiel University as the successor to Prof Wolfgang Rabbel. We wish him a good start and hope that he will remain associated with the IGEP for a long time to come.
