Regardless of industry and size, companies are faced with increasing process complexity and shorter product and innovation cycles. Digitization in production technology offers the opportunity to meet these requirements, to develop flexibility potentials and to give the economy impulses through novel business models. By merging the real production environment with its virtual image, adaptive and self-learning systems can be set up and mass data-based forecasts can be made. However, this requires practical approaches to networking, modelling and optimizing production plants and manufacturing processes.
The main objective of the project is the independent optimization of manufacturing processes and production sequences by closing the digital process chain. In order to achieve this goal, interdisciplinary research and development activities are carried out with the following focal points:
In order to ensure a high level of practical relevance, an intensive exchange between science and industry is sought in the form of project-accompanying committees. The cooperation ranges from participation in committee meetings to active collaboration on project topics or the provision of test environments for the prototypes developed in the project.
