In the project "5G Real Lab in the Mobility Region Braunschweig-Wolfsburg", TU Braunschweig investigates a broadcast mode based on 5G New Radio for the efficient distribution of popular services to stationary and mobile devices. Last week, the research transmitter developed at the Institute of Communications Engineering was put into operation at the telecommunications tower Deutsche Funkturm Broitzem .
A modulator developed using the institute's own real-time Software Defined Radio Toolkit generates the 5G New Radio Broadcast signal. A Rohde & Schwarz device is used as the amplifier.
The hardware was installed by the owner of the tower, the general contractor of DFMG Deutsche Funkturm GmbH.
