Aspects of media competence
Digital media technologies and associated communication and interaction behaviours are in a constant state of flux, influencing diverse social and individual areas. The extent to which competencies in dealing with digital media should be mastered or taught is discussed in this context.
As part of her dissertation, Francine Meyer is researching the requirements of digitisation with regard to education. The subject of this study is, among other things, the nationwide school project Make Your School - Your Ideas Workshop . It is a project that is part of Wissenschaft im Dialog and was introduced in the 2016/ 2107 school year. As part of the project, two-day to three-day “hackdays” are held at schools. In an open and workshop-like atmosphere, students develop and implement ideas to improve their own school. The hackdays contribute to improving digital education in schools and introduce young people to a range of digital and electronic tools. The scientific monitoring focuses on the question of the extent to which such formats are suitable for teaching knowledge of media as well as technological skills and competencies in the school context.
