The measures within MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) of aircraft engines form a large part of the direct operating costs and are thus often the focus of research and optimization. The goal of making aviation sustainable requires new propulsion technologies. One possible design, which could already be applied in the medium-term future, are battery-hybrid-electric architectures. In the AWARE-LuA project, an interdisciplinary overall model is set up in order to predict the influence of hybridization on MRO. Focusing on the gas turbine, this includes sub-models of the flight mission (flight profiles, environmental data), thermodynamic cycle calculation, damage modeling and analysis of maintenance scenarios.
