Key questions of a data management plan

A data management plan should answer the following key questions:

Is data reused or generated? If generated, how is the data created or measured?

What type of data are reused or created (formats, size)?

How will the data be stored and secured during the research project?

Are there ethical or legal issues with the data?

What data will be archived?

Will the data be published and if so, where?

What infrastructural and personnel resources are needed and what are the expected costs?

Who is responsible for data management in the project?

More in-depth information and additional questions can be found in the Core DMP document provided by TUBS.researchdata:

Core DMP

A data management plan is not a static document. Its contents must be adapted in the course of the project.

A good overview for creating a DMP is here:

https://www.dcc.ac.uk/DMPs/checklist

Suitable tools for creating a DMP can be found here:

DMPonline helps you create, review, and share data management plans that meet funder requirements. It is provided by the Digital Curation Centre (DCC): https://dmponline.dcc.ac.uk/

The Data Stewardship Wizard is used to guide researchers through the creation of a DMP, which can be exported to various formats. It teaches researchers how to handle data properly, make it FAIR, maintain it well during the project, and curate it for the long term: https://ds-wizard.org/

ARGOS is a joint project of OpenAIRE and EUDAT to create an open platform for data management planning, inspired by FAIR and Open Practice best practices: https://argos.openaire.eu/splash//

You can also use the service of the TU Braunschweig and work with the "Research Data Management Organiser" (RDMO) to create your data management plan.
