The project ETHAN is a German abbreviation for 'Secure and Reliable Electric and Thermal Networks for Hybrid-Electric Propulsion Systems' and aims towards an environmental friendly and secure usage of electrical and hybrid electrical propulsion systems for Vertical Take-off and Landing Systems (eVTOL) and for smaller aircraft with a capacity of up to 19 passengers. The work packages, which are worked on in cooperation with the elenia institute, are focussed on the electric networks for the new aircraft. A systems engineering approach is used to generate simulations for multiple mission profiles. Additionally new security algorithms for the electrical networks are developed and tested in a Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop-Laboratory.
