Aims of the Degree Programme

The Master's degree programme in Digital Communication and Media Technologies is a cooperative multidisciplinary full-time degree programme. The programme imparts in-depth scientific knowledge and places a strong emphasis on application and career. The programme concept is designed to provide students with a holistic and comprehensive education at various levels (content-related and personal). The Master's degree programme in Digital Communication and Media Technologies aims to equip students with scientific skills and the ability to work as a qualified professional by enabling graduates to think analytically, recognise complex interrelationships, assess and critically question existing solutions to problems and develop their own proposals for solutions. The promotion of personal development during the degree programme helps them to critically reflect on problems and proposed solutions and to assess their social responsibility and ethical relevance.

Contents of the Degree Programme

The four-semester programme teaches skills from selected fields of research in communication technology, media and business informatics and communication science. It is divided into a compulsory area, a project area and the specialisation area.

In addition to the interdisciplinary module (5 CP), the compulsory area includes the communication science core area (27 CP) and the media technology core area (25 CP). In the project area (10 CP), you can carry out either a media technology or communication science project in which you apply the knowledge, methodological competences and technical skills acquired during your studies in project contexts. In the area of specialisation (at least 23 CP), you can choose your specialisation by selecting modules within the framework of predefined profiles or by individually selecting modules according to your interests and career goals. The Master's thesis (30 CP) concludes the programme with an academic paper.
