A special facility for architecture students at TU Braunschweig are the design studios. Students can apply for one of the more than 300 studio spaces.
These student workspaces play an important role in determining the quality of architectural studies. The strength of the studios lies in the mutual support and criticism of the students during their drafts and exercises, but also in the communal cooperation in busy phases. Ideally, a collaborative, creative atmosphere develops here.
The stimulation and exchange of ideas with fellow students is a unique experience in the course of studies and complements the teaching of lecturers.

Studying abroad [in German only]
The architect’s field of work is complex and multifaceted. The study of architecture combines the realm of art and technology as well as history and society. Architects are responsible for the design and shape of buildings. They are in charge of the technical and economic development and implementation in the design as well as for the coordination of specialist engineers. They are the central interface between many interests and parties, such as the building owner, the executors on the construction site and the building authorities. Creativity, artistic talent, spatial imagination, technical understanding, communication skills, negotiation skills and assertiveness are necessary competences for architects.
For studying in the Master’s programme at TU Braunschweig, these abilities and talents should be clearly visible from the previous Bachelor’s programme. In particular, design skills should be reflected in the results of your Bachelor’s degree. You should have a high degree of interest in research, experimental design, learning and working.
Even in an increasingly diversified job market, architects will continue to work predominantly as freelancers, employees or civil servants in architectural offices, planning departments of public employers or the housing and construction industry, where they will take a leading role in projects from design to implementation.
Although tasks, values and working methods are constantly changing and the demands are becoming ever more diverse, architects remain in principle generalists.
Graduates with a previous Bachelor’s degree in Architecture meet the national and international guidelines for the management of the professional title Architect. After a two-year practical phase, they have acquired the qualification for professional qualification and licensing as an architect in Germany and the EU.
