On April 28, 2022 14 students from grade 8 to 10 had the opportunity to spend their Future Day 2022 in the Battery LabFactory. Besides a guided tour of the production and recycling laboratories, the students were given a deeper insight into the current research work at different hands-on stations, where they had also time to ask the scientists questions about everyday life at university and in research. The students produced an electrode slurry themselves, then coated and dried it onto current collectors and assembled small batteries to better understand the functioning of a battery. They also gained insight into how and why data is captured automatically along the process chain, demonstrating the interdisciplinarity and diversity of activities at BLB.
