At the Braunschweig LabFactories for Batteries and More, research activities focus on the production engineering of batteries and related technologies. Innovation and cutting-edge research are at the core of our passion for shaping the future of battery technology. Our prime objective is to develop sustainable energy storage by adopting a circular production approach that combines production and recycling.
Our research covers the entire battery manufacturing value chain. We're developing better, cheaper, and eco-friendlier ways of making batteries. Our goal is to boost battery performance and lifespan through the use of innovative manufacturing methods, materials, and technologies.
Our research focuses on improving the production techniques used for lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, fuel cells, and other energy storage systems. Innovations in materials, manufacturing processes, diagnostics and digitisation are used to improve battery performance and reliability. We partner with industry to transform our research findings into products and procedures that can be marketed.
To promote sustainable battery production and use, we focus our research on recycling and circular production of batteries. We develop innovative processes to recover valuable materials from batteries in order to conserve resources and minimise waste.
We strive to extend the life cycle of batteries by reusing and recycling battery cells and their materials. This helps us become more resourceful and eco-friendly by lowering the environmental impact of battery manufacturing. We research processes for safe and efficient recycling of batteries and develop strategies for integrating recycling into the production chain.
We believe that producing batteries and energy storage systems sustainably is crucial to creating a cleaner and more stable future. Our research in production engineering and recycling is driving this vision forward and helping to address the challenges of climate change and energy efficiency.
