As a regional alliance of research institutions, we rely on the established expertise of our partners in the Braunschweig region.
The Technische Universität Braunschweig is a renowned university in the field of energy storage and energy conversion research and is also a member of the T9, the nine leading technical universities in Germany.
Since 2008, the Battery LabFactory Braunschweig has conducted research on batteries and operated a pilot production line for research purposes. The BLB currently focuses on creating environmentally sustainable and circular battery production at multiple locations on the North Campus of TU Braunschweig and at the Braunschweig Research Airport. Researchers from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, the Leibniz Universität Hannover and the Technische Universität Clausthal are also working in the BLB.
Another center of Technische Universität of Braunschweig, the CPC - "Center for Circular Production of Next Batteries and Fuel Cells," will be created at the research airport in the next few years. The CPC is dedicated to interdisciplinary research on next-generation batteries and fuel cells.
The Fraunhofer ZESS - Zentrum für Energiespeicher und Systeme covers the entire value chain for mobile and stationary storage technologies, with a focus on solid-state batteries, sodium nickel chloride batteries and hydrogen technologies. Currently, they are building a new facility at the research airport in Braunschweig.
Together, we have formed a powerful alliance for research and innovation in energy storage and hydrogen technologies.
