What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

Braunschweig has been the centre of my life for more than 25 years. So there are many experiences, both professional and private, that I have fond memories of. For me, Braunschweig is above all a beautiful green city. My favourite place is therefore the Buchhorst, which is great for walking and jogging, as well as the Okerumflut for activities on the water.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

Braunschweig is not only a university city in one of the most research-intensive regions in Europe. The TU Braunschweig is also embedded in an ecosystem of internationally active companies in the mobility industry. This creates exciting prospects for research and teaching in the field of transport sciences.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • interdisciplinary
  • international
  • inspiring

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

As an Industrial Engineering graduate, I have learnt to combine the world of technology with the world of business. This prepared me well for taking on project and management responsibility.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

In my day-to-day work, I have regular contact with former fellow students. There are, therefore, opportunities for informal and private discussions several times a year. Also, there's the "Alumni-Bau" network, which provides a forum for regular networking.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Establish career-relevant contacts early on, for example by taking on a working student job that is closely related to your degree programme.
  2. Integrate a stay abroad into your studies to improve your foreign language skills, familiarise yourself with foreign cultures and develop your personality.
  3. The journey is the reward - career planning should always remain flexible in order to seize opportunities that pop up out of the blue.

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

... that it can continue its course towards excellent research, innovative teaching and very good study conditions with the necessary political tailwind in terms of research funding, as well as a successful transformation into an increasingly international university.
