What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

I grew up in Braunschweig, so there are many wonderful memories and many favorite places that I like to return to. What is remarkable is that many fellow students said when they came to Braunschweig how unbearable the city was and how bad the weather was, and yet they have stayed in Braunschweig to this day and have grown very fond of the city and the surrounding area.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

The location of the campus in the city. The evolved structure of old and new. The many departments and faculties. The wide range of leisure activities.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • 6B pencil
  • Finnboard
  • ArchiCAD6

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

The “design process” I have learned is essential - recognizing problems as a task, working on them persistently and solving them. This helps me in my job every day.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, several times a year - in a professional context or as a “drawing room meeting”.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. During your studies, look left and right and not just straight ahead - go into other subject areas, languages, sports and, very important: spend time abroad.
  2. Take your time during your studies, take the opportunity to do internships and work in offices and companies.
  3. Do a Master's degree - a Bachelor's degree is not yet professional training. But even after your Master's, the learning continues, every day.

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

... that it maintains and builds on its excellent reputation as an educational institution.
