Future Lab Circular Economy

Future Lab Circular Economy

Funding: Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and the Volkswagen Foundation

Laufzeit: 2024 – 2029

Project Description

The Ciruclar Economy future lab aims to research innovative and digital solutions for the sustainable and efficient use of natural resources. With the increasing global demand for raw materials and the finite nature of natural resources, industrial production must find innovative solutions for using materials. The transformation to a resource- and environmentally friendly economy is essential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the ecosystem. Digitalisation plays a crucial role in overcoming these challenges, as it is driving comprehensive change in the economy and society.
To explore the possibilities of digitalisation, the Future Lab at the Centre for Digital Innovation Lower Saxony (ZDIN) is starting its research. The participating scientists are pursuing the goal of promoting the resource-saving transformation of the economy and society through circularly networked, digital and AI-supported products and services.

The AIP's work focuses on model-based decision support for the network design of industrial symbioses in the circular economy.

The project consortium of the Circular Economy Future Lab includes the disciplines of economics, production engineering, (business) informatics, mechanical engineering, assembly technology, product development, software development and environmental management.
