The new year has begun and will bring some change with it. To give you a taste of what's happening on the website in 2024, we've put together an overview.
First of all, we would like to thank you for your feedback and suggestions. We appreciate the open and constructive communication with our editors. Many of the developments we have planned for the coming year are based on your feedback. We will continue to be grateful for your ideas and feedback in the future. You can reach us at any time via e-mail at webredaktion(at)tu-braunschweig.de or in the TYPO3-Web-CMS matrix room.
And now to the new features for 2024: Decentralized news and content elements will be possible in the style of the magazine feeder element (see image). In addition, we want to develop a design for quotes/core statements and implement other content elements in a smaller version:
- Highlightbox,
- Teaser-Container,
- Eye-Catchers.
We are also expanding our offering with new automatically generated staff lists based on the personal database of the Gauss-IT-Centre. And a "last update" display, which provides increased transparency, will also be available in future if required.
Last but not least, we are taking a closer look at the performance of our website: We will delete unlinked media objects and try to write new routines for them. This will enable us to reduce the system size and make the system more performant. When setting up the TYPO3 system, the aim was to move the content from the old media database ("Einrichtungsname_MedienDB") to the new folder ("Einrichtungsname_oeffentlich"/"Einrichtungsname_geschuetzt") as soon as possible. The old media database should then be deleted. This will now be implemented at the end of the year. We will inform you of the exact date in good time, approx. 4 weeks in advance. Please back up important files in good time and support us in this process by moving files you still need to the new folders beforehand.
We are looking forward to an exciting 2024 and hope that we can make your work easier and achieve greater diversity on the websites. With your support and feedback, we will continue to optimize the TU Braunschweig website.
