For years, the Technische Universität Braunschweig has been committed to good teaching quality and financial support for students. The university has had a foundation since December 2012. With the help of the "Carolo Wilhelmina Foundation", scholarships for students at TU Braunschweig are to be financed and projects to improve teaching are to be supported.

The foundation, which is unique in Lower Saxony, started with an initial volume of 2.7 million euros, this money coming from tuition fees. The foundation currently has a total capital of around 6.3 million euros. "From now on, we can count on the income every year and therefore also establish social scholarship programmes," explained Prof. Jürgen Hesselbach, former President of TU Braunschweig in the year the foundation was established.

The students themselves were intensively involved in the development of the foundation. The foundation's board is made up of half members of the executive committee and half students. In addition to the Chair of the Board, the TU President, the Vice President for Studies and Teaching and the members of the Student Senate are also represented. The full-time Vice President completes the Board in an advisory capacity.

The Lower Saxony Higher Education Act was amended beforehand to make the foundation possible. Until its establishment, the foundation was advised by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.

TU Braunschweig has been responsible for managing the foundation since 2019.

Many thanks to all donors!

Since 2020, the Carolo-Wilhelmina Foundation has been able to support TU Braunschweig students with 181 scholarships whose academic success was at risk due to a financial emergency through no fault of their own.

Many thanks to all those who have supported and made this social scholarship programme possible with their donations!
