Hardware-software systems
In information systems engineering, the focus is on the design of highly-specialised hardware-software systems of great complexity. Such systems can be found, for example, in mobile phones or luxury cars. These embedded systems and their complex software have little in common with conventional personal computers. For these systems, you will need both knowledge of software and a solid education in engineering. In the Information Systems Engineering programme, you will receive the right training.
The Master’s degree programme builds on the Bachelor’s degree programme in Information Systems Engineering or a similar degree programme. In addition to mathematical basics, which will be covered in the first semester, you will choose your specialisation from one of the following areas:
- Communication Engineering
- Computer Engineering and Embedded System Platforms
- Software and Systems Engineering
The Master’s programme provides an intensive introduction to current scientific issues at the constantly evolving interface between electrical engineering and information technology on the one hand and computer science on the other. Consistently interdisciplinary in its approach, the Master's degree programme takes into account requirements from the real world going beyond pure knowledge transfer.
At the end of the Master’s programme, you will have acquired problem-solving skills and will put them to use with your specialist knowledge. With your interdisciplinary knowledge, you also have a vital prerequisite that can be of great benefit for later project management tasks or a career in management.
