Studying as a guest at TU Braunschweig

Studying as a guest

If your German language skills are not yet sufficient for regular studies, you can enrol as a guest student at TU Braunschweig. This can also be a good way to become more familiar with the German language and get to know the German study system.

Good reasons to become a guest student

  • You would like to gain insight into studying at TU Braunschweig?
  • You would like to learn how the German study system works?
  • You are interested in science and research in general?
  • You would like to become more familiar with the German language?

Then register for a free guest auditor course! You do not need to have a special educational qualification to do so.

What does it cost to be a guest student?

Participation is free of charge for prospective refugee students and students from other state-run universities in Lower Saxony.

How can I become a guest student?

To do so, please fill out our guest student application form. Please note the following deadlines for the application:

  • for a winter semester between 1 September and 31 October and
  • for a summer semester between 1 March and 30 April.

If you would like to be a guest student again in the following semester, you must submit a new application.

As a guest auditor you are allowed to visit at most 8 course hours per week. In other words: You have the possibility to attend 4 lectures with 2 course hours per week. One course hour takes 45 minutes. Choose your courses from our Digital Course Catalogue or from our courses taught in English and note them on the application. In the following cases, you need the consent and signature of the teacher:

  • A course you would like to attend belongs to an admission-restricted degree programme.
  • You would like to take an examination.

You then hand in your application to the Enrolment Office.
