Modern control and coordination methods form the core of research and teaching at the Institute of Intermodal Transportation and Logistics Systems. To this end, we place the transportation medium in the background and pursue the vision of mobility as functionality. Our aim is to be able to provide the right quantity at the right place at the right time and at the right cost. In particular, we pursue a systemic and method-driven approach to redesigning the transportation of goods and people. The methods we have developed address an end-to-end solution in an overall architecture that

  • Interoperability of technology tools such as autonomous driving, digitalization and communication technologies,
  • Integrability across strategic, tactical and operational planning, and
  • Scalability in applications.
