The Gauß-IT-Zentrum is the central IT service provider for students, administration and central facilities at TU Braunschweig. It is divided into five departments:
The department Applications of the Gauß-IT-Zentrum is tasked with ensuring the development, deployment and support of software applications and IT services for the University. The department is responsible for developing and updating customized software applications that meet the specific needs of the University's various departments and facilities. This includes requirements analysis, design, programming, testing and implementation of software solutions. Also works closely with other IT departments, faculties, facilities and external partners to ensure effective integration of software applications and IT services.
The development and maintenance of software are the main tasks of the department Development. The field of activity covers various areas such as web applications, databases and high-performance computing. For this reason, the software-side responsibility for corresponding services of the GITZ, including compute cluster, Stud.IP, print service and the Internet presence, also lies with this department. Numerous web-based applications of the university were and are developed here. Examples are the scholarship portal, TUorga and KDD. In addition, the department offers consulting for members of the university in software development and trains the next generation in programming.
The Network Operation Center of the Gauß-IT-Zentrum provides the campus network and monitors the performance and security of network access. It installs and configures network devices, ensuring smooth network connections. In addition, the department implements security measures in the data network to protect against potential threats. It assists users with questions and problems. The Network Operation Center works closely with other departments at the Gauß-IT-Zentrum to ensure a reliable IT infrastructure. The goal is to provide secure and fast access to resources and services for all members and guests of the TU.
The Server department of the Gauß-IT-Zentrum plays a crucial role in the provision and maintenance of various central server services at TU Braunschweig. Among other things, it provides e-mail communication, offers solutions for data storage including backup, as well as cloud storage, and administers servers for web presence and video conferencing software. For institutes and facilities, the department offers virtual servers and the possibility of server housing. In addition, the scope of the department includes the support of the server landscape of managed institutions.
The Support department is the first point of contact for all IT matters at TU Braunschweig. We offer comprehensive support for students and employees, both in the institutes and in the administrative departments. Our team is there to help you with questions, problems and technical concerns. We support you in the use of the central services offered by the Gauß-IT-Zentrum, in the installation of software as well as with regard to the multimedia devices lent by us.
