The central workshop at the Campus Forschungsflughafen was created with the merging of the single workshops of the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, the Institute of Jet propulsion and Turbomachinery, the Institute of Aircraft Design and Lightweight Structures and the Institute of Flight Guidance.
With our wide experience in building prototypes, a large machine shop and detailed expertise we build the parts that are used for research every day. Be it a small flow-probe or a complete test-rig, a fully instrumented wind tunnel model or the blades for high-revving rotors.
Three 5-axis-CNC milling machines DMG DMF200/8 / DMU100T / DMU80T, max. travel 2000mm
one 3-axis-CNC milling machine Deckel FP3-50, max. travel 500mm
5 konventional milling machines, max. travel 1100mm
5 lathes, distance between centers max. 2m, max. diameter 400mm, short pieces up to 500mm
electronic controlled bender, free length 3m
several drill presses, grinders, sheet metal, welding equpiment (TIG/MIG).
We use various CAD/CAM-systems (CATIA V5, Solid Works, AUTO Cad), enabling us to do everything in house from the first idea to the finished part.
Next to our metal workshop, we build aerodynamic models in GRP and CRP in our composite workshop, including complete instrumentation with pressure taps or sensors. In our electronic lab we design and built measuring devices and maintain and improve existing hardware.
Our workshop takes apprentices every year.
