Our research assistant Lucas Sassaki V. da Silva was honoured with the Albertis Award for his master's thesis "Influence of moisture damage on fatigue cracking of asphalt binders, aggregate-binder interface, and mixtures", which he wrote while still studying at the Universidade Federal do Ceará in Brazil.
The Abertis Awards are presented annually and are aimed at students and doctoral candidates from all universities in Spain, France, Italy, Chile, Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The aim is to recognise the best doctoral and master's theses in the fields of transport infrastructure management, road safety and sustainable mobility with prize money totalling 7,000 euros. The research work will be assessed by a jury according to strict criteria, such as Contribution of the research work to the creation of knowledge, originality, development of practical solutions and innovation as well as the writing, design and presentation of the thesis.
