The “Future Grinding Technologies” project of the European Cement Research Academy (ECRA) was launched in 2014 with the aim of improving the energy and resource efficiency of the grinding technology employed in the cement and related industries.
The project is divided into three stages: The first stage involves developing comminution models which can be used to optimise existing grinding plants. This will achieve improvements in the areas of throughput, efficiency, wear and other important factors in the near future. Having gained a better understanding of the available technologies, the second step will be to find an optimum solution for the grinding process. As a final step it will then be possible to develop new grinding technologies to deal with the requirements of the future.
