Summary of the overall project:
In the Franco-German research project HiPoBat, high-performance batteries based on lithium and sodium with solid electrolyte are to be developed. At the material level, the focus lies on improving the power density of the active electrode materials by optimizing the crystalline structure and morphology and developing compatible solid electrolytes. In addition, optimized 3D electrode architectures are being developed to enable new functionalities.
In detail, anodes based on Si-C composite particles are to be produced that can be used in both Li and Na-based solid-state batteries. Process-structure-property relationships will be derived through targeted variation of the process parameters and comparison of alternative processes as well as subsequent characterization of the components. In addition to practical experiments, models will be created for a better understanding and easier optimization of the electrochemical properties at electrode and cell level.
