Erasmus+ traineeships

Erasmus+ is the most successful European education programme and has been supporting traineeships abroad in Europe since 1987.

Information for applicants

Who will be funded?
Students of all disciplines; under certain conditions, graduate students can also be funded.

What is funded?
Self-organised traineeships in companies, certain educational institutions and research centres, with the exception of EU institutions, bodies and agencies.

There are currently 33 European countries that are members of the Erasmus+ programme. They are called Programme Countries. All other countries are called Partner Countries. Under certain conditions, Erasmus+ traineeships can also be funded in Partner Countries; we will be happy to answer any questions you may have during our office hours.

Grants for Erasmus+ traineeships range from 690 euros to 750 euros and depend on the country of destination. You can get more information about this during our office hours.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Please note that in the case of blended mobility, only the physical mobility (stay abroad) is eligible for funding.
Grants for participants with fewer opportunities (e.g. students with children, students with disabilities/a chronic illness, first generation students, and employed students) and grants for using sustainable means of transport (Green Travel) may be available.
Other funding options: Auslands-BAföG (BAföG abroad), educational loan

2 to 12 months at Bachelor or Master level or for doctoral candidates; maximum 24 month at state examination level

More information on Erasmus+

The new generation of the Erasmus+ programme puts a greater emphasis on digitalisation, inclusion and sustainability.

Digitalisation:
Thanks to digitalisation through Erasmus Without Paper (EWP), learning agreements, inter-institutional agreements and transcripts of records can be issued and used digitally in the future.
Erasmus+ Green:
“Green Travel” is defined as the travel that uses low-emissions means of transport for the main part of the travel, such as bus, train or car-pooling. For this purpose, up to 6 travel days can be funded.
Inclusion:
Participants with a degree of disability (Grad der Behinderung, GdB) of 20 or more and/or a chronic illness resulting in additional financial needs abroad, students who are completing their stay abroad with children, first generation students, and employed students (“fewer opportunities”) will now receive additional funding . The aim is to create a common understanding of the "fewer opportunities" group and thus create a framework that better integrates the different participants into the programme.
Blended mobility:
Blended format traineeships are possible. The physical mobility is between 5-30 days plus a virtual component. Only the physical mobility is eligible for funding.
Short term mobility:
Only for doctoral mobility. Physical mobility 5-30 days, virtual component optional. Only the physical mobility is eligible for funding.

TU Braunschweig has been awarded the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) by the European Commission on the basis of its Erasmus+ Policy Statement (EPS). This officially entitles TU Braunschweig to apply for and implement Erasmus+ measures. The rights and obligations of participating students are regulated in the Erasmus+ Student Charter (ESC).
