The institute belongs to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Our research is in the field of material science, energy technology and systems process engineering. Topics range from current and next generation batteries to fuel cells and electrolyzers as well as other innovative energy systems. The teaching courses offered include basic subjects and special lectures in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and applied electrochemistry.
The predecessor of the institute is the Institute of Heat and Fuel Technology which is explained in detail on the history page.
