The activities for research and development of the smallest photonic components are bundled in the MicroPhotonicsLab (MPL) of the TU Braunschweig. At the Institute of Semiconductor Technology, three workgroups (Prof. Stefanie Kroker, Prof. Tobias Voss, Prof. Andreas Waag) contribute to the MicroPhotonicsLab (MPL). The activities are an important part of the research within the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers (QF) and the Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS), the quantum technology network of the state of Lower Saxony. In this context, e.g. laser diodes for the control of single ions in ion trap quantum processors are developed. The respective work builds on years of cutting-edge research in the field of GaN technology.
