Nanotechnology and the global energy problem

Contents: The course gives an overview of applications of nanotechnology in the field of energy generation, storage and saving. Afterwards the students should be able to understand the functioning of nanotechnologies and their benefits.
In detail the following topics will be discussed:

• photovoltaic systems
• thermoelectric systems
• piezoelectric systems
• hydrogen generation
• turbines etc.

• batteries
• capacitors
• hydrogen storage

• lighting
• heat exchangers
• thermal insulation
