PhySens GmbH as an IGeP spin-off, consisting of Katharina Ostaszewski, Philip Heinisch and Henriette Struckmann, successfully participated in the international transfer competition for space technologies “INNOspace Masters 2020/21” of the DLR. The team presented its solution for “Intelligent System Maintenance and Current Monitoring” in the ESA BIC Challenge and the concept for “Magnetic Rail Infrastructure Monitoring” in the DB Netze AG Challenge of the competition. Both submissions were each awarded first prize in the challenges. In addition, the submission to the ESA BIC Challenge won the overall prize of the 2020/21 competition.
The IGEP is delighted with the team about these great awards and congratulates them warmly!
The two award-winning concepts are based on knowledge in the field of magnetic field sensors that Katharina Ostaszewski and Philip Heinisch acquired as part of their scientific work at the IGeP. As members of the working group "Space Physics & Sensors" headed by Prof. Karl-Heinz Glaßmeier and Dr. Daniel Heyner, the two dealt with the evaluation of magnetic field data for the ESA Rosetta mission. Together with Henriette Struckmann, they then received an EXIST start-up grant and worked on the commercialization of their ideas in their old place of work, the IGeP.
