ANSYS package consists of various softwares to carry out the numerical simulations. For instance, ANSYS Design Modeler help the preparation of the geometry, ANSYS ICEM CFD performs meshing of the geometry, ANSYS FLUENT runs the simulations, and finally, ANSYS CFD Post is the visualization software of the results.
ChemCAD allows the users to develop complex flow charts and furthermore the following simulation of entire processes as well as a graphical display of the results. By the use of an extensive substance database and several thermodynamical models process simulations close to reality are possible
COSMOtherm is an universal software tool for the prediction of thermodynamic substance properties, especially in fluids. COSMOtherm represents the software implementation of the COMSO-RS theory which combines quantum chemistry and statistical thermodynamics for the prediction of chemical potentials of molecules in mixtures. Based on the chemical potential, different thermodynamic properties like solubility of liquids, solids and gases, phase equilibrium like VLE, LLE and SLE, vapor pressure and boiling point as well as activity and partitioning coefficients can be determined.
HTRI Xchanger Suite® includes components for heat transfer and associated calculations of heat exchangers. HTRI’s calculation methods are backed by 50 years of extensive research and data collected on industrially relevant heat transfer equipment. The educational version of Xchanger Suite® can be used to design air coolers, shell-and-tube heat exchangers as well as plate-and-frame heat exchangers.
umberto® supports the structured depiction of processes in the form of material flow net models for an ecological assessment. Based on consistent mass- and energy balances, the software offers the possibility to quantify the potential environmental impacts of the target system with the help of the attached LCI and LCIA database ecoinvent (www.ecoinvent.ch). At our institute the software versions umberto 5.6 for eco-efficiency with ecoinvent v2.2 as well as Umberto NXT Universal with ecoinvent 3.1 are in use.
