The handling of cryogenic agents will be teached in these experiments. The whole experiment is divided into two parts, which are taking place on different days. In the first part you will learn something about the handling of liquid nitrogen and its effect on different solids. Furthermore, the temperature dependencies of three solid state resistors will be investigated and the enthalpy of vaporization of liquid nitrogen will be measured.
During the second part you will investigate quantum mechanical effects like superconductivity and superfluidity of liqud helium.

This two-day experiment demonstrates the basic properties of optical resonators by using the example of a He-Ne laser. Above all, the stability of the laser, the Gaussian geometrical optics and the emergence of transversal modes will be discussed as well as the handling of optical setups.
