On 25 January 2025, the Physics Department at TU Braunschweig opened its doors to school pupils, students and anyone interested in physics. As part of a variety of hands-on experiments, the IAP exhibited an interactive AI demonstration, do-it-yourself spectrometers and a LEGO microscope, as well as two real scanning probe microscopes that anyone can use to examine surfaces on the atomic scale.
In addition, a guided tour of the LENA research center provided interesting insights into the laboratories for scanning tunnelling microscopy and electron microscopy, which impressively demonstrated how you can draw on the hair of a fly.
