After enrolment

What happens after enrolment?

Altgebäude mit Schriftzug WELCOME

The status of your desired degree programme in the TUconnect online portal has changed to "enrolled"? You are now successfully enrolled at TU Braunschweig.

Access to IT services

Your access to the IT services is provided. As a student at TU Braunschweig, you will automatically receive a user ID for students, which we call y-number, as access to the examination administration and our IT systems. The y-number is not your matriculation number, but is also issued to you. To obtain this, log in to TUconnect with your application data and download the document for activating your y-number under My Studies → Student Self-Service.

You must activate the y-number yourself using the one-time password here . If this was successful, the y-number and the corresponding e-mail address can be used from the next day. If problems occur during activation or if you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Desk of the Gauß IT Centre (GITZ).

Tip from the GITZ: During the activation process, it is strongly recommended that you enter your mobile phone number for password text messages. This will make it easier for you to reset your password if the worst comes to the worst.

Student ID card

Your personalised TUcard will be issued at the Student Service Centre at the beginning of your first semester. It is valid as a student ID card, voting authorisation, library card, credit card for the canteen and more. You will find all the information about issuing your TUcard on the TUcard collection page in due course.

You will keep your TUcard for the duration of your studies at TU Braunschweig. In order for your TUcard to be valid, it must be validated at the beginning and at each new semester. This means that the thermal strip on the card is printed with the current data in a validation printer. You can find more information about the TUcard here.

You can also call up and download current enrolment certificates in TUconnect under "My studies > Student services".

Semester ticket

From the winter semester 2024/25, all students at TU Braunschweig will be provided with the Deutschlandsemesterticket electronically. The most important questions are already answered in the ASTA FAQ.
