Ethnographic and Participatory Research Methods in Engineering
Over the past decades, methods of ethnographic fieldwork and participatory (design) research have been applied to various research & development projects, particularly within the field of computer science. The doctoral thesis of Julia Stilke explores whether these methods need field-specific modifications, in order to contribute to certain cutting-edge engineering projects. The research focus of the thesis is on sustainable and low-noise aviation. Moreover, it is part of the DFG-funded project “Human demands of sustainable aviation” within the cluster of excellence SE2A – Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation.
