The Master's degree programme builds on the undergraduate Bachelor's programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Ideally, students haven chosen the specialisation Automotive Engineering (and Mobile Systems) as early as possible in the Bachelor's programme. The diagram provides an overview. For detailed information, please refer to the in-depth structure of the programme and the module handbook (MHB).
In the Core Area a limited selection of modules is available. These modules, which are either fixed (the mathematics module is compulsory) or can be chosen from a small selection, represent important fundamentals for the Master's programme Automotive Engineering and Mobile Systems.
In the Profile Area you can freely choose any module which are available for selection. The catalogue includes a large selection of modules so you can set your own priority in the content of your study programme.
The Laboratory area enables you to practically apply and implement what you've learned in laboratory experiments.
In the elective area, modules of 15 CP have to be completed, which can be chosen freely within the entire Master's programmes offered by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (5 CP for each module). All modules are listed in Annex 2 of the Special Examination Regulations (BPO).
The area of Interdisciplinary Electives serves to acquire methodological and social competences. This ensures that you dare to think outside the box in your course of studies and supplement your subject knowledge with important additional qualifications for professional life. You can choose from the entire programme of courses offered by TU Braunschweig. Any course that concludes with an examination and is not part of your own Master's degree programme can be selected.
The goal of the Student Research Project is to promote the students' scientific work. In addition to the subject-related work, rhetorical skills in presenting the results of the work are also required and encouraged here, as well as practising scientific writing when preparing the work with a view to writing the Master's thesis.
The Master's programme is completed by the final module. This module includes the preparation of the Master's thesis and a presentation of the results.
The Master's thesis should demonstrate the student's ability to independently prepare a scientific paper. Furthermore, this module trains the documentation and communication of scientific results and enables the students to successfully use these working methods in their future field of activity after their graduation.
