The lecture abroad must be thematically close to the corresponding course (i.e. the one to be replaced) at the Institute of Finance.
Only the credit points of the local course are recognised, i.e. if there are more credit points for the foreign lecture, the additional points are forfeited.
When selecting lectures, care must be taken that, for example, IFM and risk management may not be taken together in the diploma programme. Likewise, there may be similar degree programme-specific restrictions.
The following information is required for a recognition check:
Name, matriculation number, degree programme, course abroad (title and link to description or complete course description as pdf in German or English. The description must come from an official source and must not be a translation of a foreign language description. The description must include the number of ECTS credits and provide detailed information on the content of the course. It can also be helpful to contact the respective university), substituted subject here (portfolio management, risk management, ...), specialisation/ module (diploma/ bachelor/ master...; economics supplement, etc.), university abroad.
Lectures with the title "Investments" usually deal with the topic of portfolio management and not, as one might think from the name, what is taught here in the course "Investment Theory". The content from "Investment Theory" is usually found in courses where "capital budgeting" appears in the title/description. Likewise, content from " Financial Theory" is dealt with in courses with the keyword "corporate finance".
Courses with a "3" at the beginning of the abbreviation are often foundation courses in the USA and are not suitable for recognition in a Master's specialisation or are only suitable for recognition in a Bachelor's specialisation after examination.
