The degree programme takes into account the growing demand for specialists who understand technology and business at the same time. Increasing specialisation has led to a growing lack of understanding of interdisciplinary tasks in companies. Industrial engineers close this gap.

From the very first semester, you will learn about both electrical engineering and economics. Simultaneously, you will get to know different approaches and ways of thinking, problems and technical languages. You will gain expert knowledge and become capable of solving tasks that require profound expertise from both fields. You decide for yourself whether you want to focus more on technical or economic subjects.

Graduates of this Master’s degree programme are skilled problem-solvers and apply their specialist knowledge to take up challenges. Your knowledge from across disciplines will also enable you to take on project management tasks in your later professional life or, for example, to pursue a career in a management position.

Those who have gained experience abroad and speak a foreign language are particularly sought after by the economy. Today, large companies operate globally, research projects are carried out in international teams and specialised literature is written in English. It is therefore important that you take advantage of your studies to gain experience abroad and to professionalise your foreign language skills.

Within the framework of our international university partnerships, we offer you many opportunities to study abroad. In our dual degree programmes, you can acquire a second university degree from a university abroad without extending your study time. Alternatively, you can complete internships or student research projects in a company abroad for which you can receive credit as part of the recognition of study achievements.

Classic fields of duties are many and varied and can be found especially at the intersection of economics and technology, for example:

• project engineering: calculating the economic efficiency of technical projects
• production planning and control: ensuring smooth and cost-effective production
• optimising work processes
• preparation of market analyses
• product planning and marketing of high-quality technical goods and systems

The areas in which you will be employed in industry and service companies are therefore equally diverse. In the electrical engineering field of study, you will find jobs in particular in the electrotechnical and information technology industry, here especially in the energy industry, but also in the vehicle industry, in mechanical and plant engineering or the software industry as well as in management consultancy and accountancy firms.
