Electromobility lies at the interface between the automotive industry and the energy supply industry.
The focus is on energy storage, power electronics and electric drives as well as grid infrastructure, charging stations and standardisation.
In the Master’s programme, you will be trained as specialists in electromobility, with interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of electrical systems, vehicle technology as well as energy storage and infrastructure. Additionally, you will gain knowledge in economics to complement what you have learnt.
Information on the study programme
The Master’s programme in Electromobility is a research-oriented programme with a strong scientific focus and a wide range of specialisation options based on the current research topics dealt with by the participating institutes from the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
There are three thematic fields to choose from:
Structure of the programme
The programme comprises a total of 120 credit points (LP).
It is structured as follows:
-
general basics with 20 LP, consisting of
-
compulsory module (10 LP) and
-
compulsory elective module (10 LP),
-
technical elective modules with 50 LP, divided in
-

final module (Master’s thesis + presentation) with 30 LP.
Those who have gained experience abroad and speak a foreign language are particularly sought after by the economy. Today, large companies operate globally, research projects are carried out in international teams and specialised literature is written in English. It is therefore important that you take advantage of your studies to gain experience abroad and to professionalise your foreign language skills.
Within the framework of our international university partnerships, we offer you many opportunities to study abroad:
-
Europe: with universities in, for example, Scandinavia, Southern and Eastern Europe
-
North America: with universities in the USA and Canada
-
South America: with universities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico
-
Asia: with universities in India, China, Japan and South Korea
Studying abroad [in German only]
The degree programme is aimed at applicants who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
Graduates are specialists who are in demand wherever alternative drives and new technologies are used to secure mobility. This applies to both companies in the field of energy technology as well as vehicle technology.
Students who successfully complete their Master’s degree in Electromobility have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.
Admission requirements and application
You can apply for this Master’s degree programme if you have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. You can find more information on the admission requirements in our admission regulations. Please carefully read the information provided before you submit your application!
