Description

Subproject A5

A Lattice-Boltzmann Model will be extended for the simulation of flow and acoustics source and sink terms in pore spaces as well as for inner parts of the boundary layer to discretize the weakly compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Inside the porous medium Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) will be conducted with a seamless transition to an LES domain which is coupled to a RANS simulation. The coupled scheme will be validated by experimental data for laminar flows in porous media and turbulent flows for a flat plate and a wing profile. Our associated partner, Prof. Moon from Univ. of Korea, Seoul, will conduct complementary simulations with an LES/DNS solver coupled to acoustic perturbation models.
