Master's programme in Civil Engineering

The consecutive Master's programme in Civil Engineering builds on the basic education of the Bachelor's programme.

At the TU Braunschweig, we offer you a research-oriented education. You expand your basic knowledge and choose three specialization areas, according to your personal interests. Depending on career objectives, you combine modules from the fields of Construction Engineering, Water and Environment, Traffic and Infrastructure, and Computational Engineering.

The general part of the examination regulations (APO) applies to all Bachelor's and Master's programmes at the TU Braunschweig. Supplementary regulations for the study programme can be found in the special part of the examination regulations (BPO). The corresponding module guide book (MHB) contains the description of the modules. We have summarized the most important regulations for you in our explanations of the study program.

The area of key qualifications consists of two modules. Please note the information in our explanations and current announcements in Stud.IP.

1. Lecture series (2 LP): Seminars from the faculty's offerings as well as other seminars on request. Alternatively, excursions can be credited (no compulsory excursions).

2. Soft skills (4 LP): Seminars offer by Psychology Department/chair of work for Industrial/Organizational and Social Psychology. Languages may also be included (depending on the level). After consultation with the examination office the course coordination, alternative performances can also be brought in that correspond to the learning objectives according to the module handbook: "The acquisition of key qualifications supports the students in being able to deal with different people and situations, to be able to act appropriately in the working life according to the situation and to be able to solve problems independently."

Study projects are written in the selected specialization subjects. The academic graduation area includes a study project of 10 LP, optionally a second study project of 6 LP. Your study projects, including issue and submission, will be supervised directly by our institutes. Please contact them at an early stage for advice on the topic and to arrange deadlines.

With the Master's thesis (20 LP) as the graduation of your studies, you demonstrate that you are able to independently familiarize yourself with a complex topic as well as to work on it methodically. You will present your work as a lecture and will be given the opportunity to answer questions and discuss your results. The Master's thesis, including output and submission, is directly supervised by our institutes. Please contact them early for a consultation regarding the topic and to arrange a date.
