What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

The many parks and lovely spots along the Oker are great. What I like about Braunschweig in general is the easy and quick accessibility of many interesting places by bike. "The city of short distances" - for me, Braunschweig is just that already.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

Centrally located in Germany, excellent local conditions for the interaction of scientific research and globally operating companies. Companies that live and breathe Braunschweig and are committed to social and cultural issues in addition to their core business.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • tough
  • demanding
  • fostering

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

Of course, basic knowledge and its transfer is an essential component. But the most important thing is the network and the personal relationships that have resulted from my studies. Contents and focus topics change in our fast-moving world and gain or lose importance. The relationships that have been built up over 5 years of studying here still exist today.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, many of my closest friends are former fellow students. Some of my colleagues at work are fellow students. I still have very regular contact with many of them.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Look to the left and right and, above all, think outside the box!
  2. Find the job that makes you happy!

  3. Try to get in touch with potential employers during your studies. The sooner you can combine knowledge from your theoretical studies with practical experience, the sooner companies perceive of you as an attractive hiring candidate.

In one sentence - In the future, I wish the TU Braunschweig:

...that the contents of research and teaching, the teaching conditions for the institutes including their staff, but also for students, remain at a high level in the future. This applies to digital equipment, but, of course, also to the mindset towards new things. Stay curious!
