What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

I remember, in particular, the exceptionally strong bond we had with each other. We were the very first Bachelor's and Master's degree programme at the TU. The transition from the Diplom to the Bachelor's/Master's system brought with it a lot of uncertainty and unrest. And the fact that we got through it together and always supported each other in the process really ‘welded us together’. This formed friendships that continue to this day.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

Braunschweig has the perfect size for me: it is big enough to offer many interesting and varied cultural, social and sports activities. At the same time, it is small enough to have everything within reach by bike. Apart from that, I find the city centre with its half-timbered houses and the green spots - such as the Botanical Gardens - unique and cosy.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • exciting
  • educational
  • nurturing

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

Everything I learnt about didactics and methodology in adult education and educational psychology (learning psychology, social psychology, personality psychology) as well as many models from educational communication.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, we try to meet up once a year with our ‘university girls’ group’. In between official get-togehters, however, we are also in touch and I really appreciate and enjoy that.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Do internships to gain experience and to find out what you like and enjoy - be curious and try things, this is the perfect time to do so.
  2. Keep and foster the contacts you make and build up networks, they can be very valuable for you.
  3. Do what you REALLY enjoy and what you see as your personal purpose - because then you will be successful and happy.

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

... that it remains open to what is happening in the world and continues to put the students, who are interested and motivated to shape the future, at the centre of everything it does.
