What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

My favourite memory of Braunschweig is definitely the birth of my children. My favourite place in Braunschweig can only be reached in the nicest of times during the year: the "Huehnerstall" booth at the Braunschweig Christmas market.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

The compact nature of the university, even though that lead/leads to the ‘elementary moulding’ (pottery) class taking place outside in the Querum forest.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • Fun
  • Design projects oversupply
  • Construction legislation undersupply

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

Communicative skills and a sense for the ‘big picture’.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, some people from back then are still in my circle of friends...

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Take as many university courses as possible in the areas that will later shape your professional life (HOAI+architectural law: where does my money come from, how do I offer my services?, VOB+BGB: where are the legal limits of my work?)
  2. Get a working student job. Gaining practical experience will help you early on with redirecting your study focus if need be.
  3. Make the most of your studies: it's a wonderful time. No future employer will take offence at an extra semester.

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

Well maintained buildings and a continued high level of education.
