What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

Some of my fondest memories include the seminars with my favourite professors such as Dr Herbert Mehrtens and Dr Ute Daniel. The discussions with them and other lecturers, the professional exchange and the (sometimes critical, but always constructive) feedback are certainly amongst the most formative moments of my degree programme.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

  • The size of the city and the various campuses! The accessibility by bike, public transport or on foot is unbeatable in Braunschweig.
  • I particularly appreciate the fact that, despite its technical and scientific focus, the TU Braunschweig has excellent Humanities institutes and seminars, such as the History Department with its small but well-stocked library.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • shaping
  • meaningful
  • long ;)

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

  • The ability to acquire new, diverse subject matter and communicate and present what I have learned.
  • The ability to deal with complex issues in a structured and differentiated manner.
  • The art of tolerating doubt and - as a Humanities graduate - not knowing what comes after graduation.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

No.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Gain practical experience - you can never do enough internships ;)
  2. Careers cannot be compared! So, don't always compare yourself with others, but focus on your own abilities and desires.
  3. Reach for the stars: Sometimes you have to dare to plunge into projects and tasks for which you are not yet optimally prepared. Everything can be learnt!

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

Learners and teachers who are curious and love what they do to change things and make their environment a little bit better.
