Master's programme in Industrial and Civil Engineering

The consecutive Master's programme in Industrial and Civil Engineering builds on the foundations of the Bachelor's programme - in the two disciplines that this program combines. In both Civil Engineering and Economics, we offer you a research-oriented education. You will focus on a specialization subject in Civil engineering and expand your knowledge in selected modules in Economics. In the integrated subject area, a comprehensive range of courses is available with advanced modules in Construction and Project Management as well as infrastructure and Real Estate Management.

The General Part of the Examination Regulations (APO) applies to all Bachelor's and Master's degree programms at the TU Braunschweig. Supplementary regulations for the study programme can be found in the Special Part of the Examination Regulations (BPO). The corresponding Module Guide Book (MHB) contains the description of the modules. We have summarized the most important regulations for you in our explanations on the study programme.

The area of key qualifications consists of two modules. Please note the information in our explanations and current announcements in Stud.IP.

1. Lecture series (1 LP): Seminars from the faculty's offerings as well as other seminars on request. Alternatively, excursions can be credited (no compulsory excursions).

2. Soft skills (2 LP): seminars of Psychology Department/chair of work for Industrial/Organizational and Social Psychology. Languages may also be included (depending on the level). After consultation with the examination office the study program coordination, alternative performances can also be brought in that correspond to the learning objectives according to the module handbook: "The acquisition of key qualifications supports the students in being able to deal with different people and situations, to be able to act appropriately in the working life according to the situation and to be able to solve problems independently."

The Academic Graduation Area includes a study project of 10 LP, which you will complete in the chosen specialization subject of Civil Engineering. Your study project, including issue and submission, will be supervised directly by our institutes. Please contact them early for a consultation regarding the topic and to arrange a date.

Master's thesis

With the Master's thesis (20 LP) as the conclusion of your studies, you demonstrate that you are able to independently familiarize yourself with a complex topic as well as to work on it methodically. You will present your work as a lecture and will be given the opportunity to answer questions and discuss your results. The Master's thesis, including output and submission, is directly supervised by our institutes. Please contact them at an early stage for advice on the topic and to arrange a date. The Master's thesis can be written in the chosen specialization of Civil Engineering or Economics, or in a topic from the field of integration.
