The objective of the lecture “Novel Sensor Technologies in asphalt materials” is to achieve the students an advanced knowledge of the future generation of pavements/roads through innovative tools and test methods. Toppics This lecture focuses on novel sensor technologies e. g. to be used in the pavement for monitoring pavement related information such as on material performance or on heavy vehicle passings. Students will be introduced into most modern sensor technologies, including accelerometers, smartphones, piezoelectric sensors and fiber optical sensors. Selected technologies will be demonstrated in the laboratory, showing real-time pavement monitoring.
